Comfrey & Peppermint Muscle & Sports Balm-:
Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is a herb which has long been highly revered as a medicinal plant, with use dating back over 2,000 years. Once commonly known as Knitbone, and the with the Latin name Symphytum meaning “to unite”, this provides clues as to it’s remarkable healing abilities, showing a particular affinity for the muscular and skeletal systems of the body.
The powerful healing action of Comfrey is due to the rich mix of compounds contained in both the leaves, and more potently, the roots of the herb. The primary active compound, allantoin, has been shown to have strong cell-proliferation abilities, regenerating wounded areas and speeding up new, healthy cell growth. More recently, clinical studies back up its impressive healing properties and its safety, when used externally (Comfrey Clinical Studies)
We have long held Comfrey in high regard, honouring its traditional use and medicinal bounty in its roots and leaves, and have always grown this wonderful herb in our gardens. As a family who is active in many outdoor pursuits and sports, we have often marvelled at the healing abilities of Comfrey when treating personal injuries such as bruises, sprains and strains. So, for us, it made perfect sense when formulating our Muscle Balm, to incorporate pure and therapeutic extracts of our own organically grown comfrey as the core medicinal ingredient.
To enhance the therapeutic actions of our Comfrey and Peppermint Muscle & Sports Balm, we have also added a powerful mix of pure essential oils to help ease symptoms of muscle and joint pain, aid mobility and deep tissue repair, while also providing soothing emotional support.
Ingredients: Tasmanian Olive Oil (cold-pressed, extra virgin), Tasmanian Leatherwood Beeswax, Organic Comfrey Root and Leaf Oil Infusion. Pure Essential Oils of: Australian Peppermint (Mentha piperita), Sweet Kunzea (Kunzea ambigua), Eucalyptus Kochii (Eucalyptus kochii) and Rosalina (Northern Form Melaleuca ericifolia).

Comfrey Root and Leaf Oil Infusion: Our Wild Oils grown, organic Comfrey is harvested for the roots and leaves. Once cleaned and dried, the comfrey is slow-steeped in our premium Tasmanian Olive Oil over minimal heat to extract its maximum therapeutic properties into the oil. The deep green-gold oil then forms the therapeutic base of our renowned Comfrey Muscle Balm.
Tasmanian Olive Oil: We have sourced premium, extra-virgin, cold-pressed olive oil from Tasmanian growers. This premium oil is exceptionally high in Oleic acid and is rich in Vitamin E. Possessing richly emollient properties, together with wound healing abilities, this oil is also cleansing, anti-inflammatory and fights free-radical damage. Excellent for dry, sensitive and mature skin. A perfect base ingredient for our Comfrey Muscle Balm.
Tasmanian Leatherwood Beeswax: Sourced from Tasmanian beekeepers who keep their hives amongst the world-renowned Leatherwood forests of Tasmania. Faintly sweet and Leatherwood-honey-scented, this luxury beeswax boasts beneficial skin softening properties and helps skin retain moisture.

Australian Peppermint (Mentha piperita): Naturally rich in menthol, this essential oil has a refreshingly sweet, minty and herbaceous aroma. Among it’s wide range of therapeutic applications, the powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of Peppermint oil make it a valuable addition to our Muscle Balm.
Sweet Kunzea (Kunzea ambigua): Posessing powerful anti-inflammatory properties, Sweet Kunzea essential oil is a valuable addition to our blend to help ease muscle and joint pain and assist repair.
Eucalyptus Kochii (Eucalyptus kochii): Anti-inflammatory properties of this essential oil help with muscle and joint pain and aid repair, while circulation-stimulating action also promotes healing.
Rosalina(Northern Form Melaleuca ericifolia): Containing powerful antibacterial properties, together with mildly sedative and calming actions, this oil is useful in soothing and healing the skin, as well as providing calming support for the the emotions following injury or muscular and joint discomfort.

Using Comfrey & Peppermint Muscle & Sports Balm:
Comfrey & Peppermint Muscle & Sports Balm can be used as an effective topical treatment for injuries to muscles and joints. For external use only (See safety guidelines below).
Soften a small amount of Balm between your fingers and rub into the affected area, massaging into the skin, and re-apply as necessary. Reduce movement or immobilise the injured area as much as possible. We particularly recommended applying Comfrey Muscle Balm last thing before bed time, so it can work its healing magic overnight, when the body is at rest.

External use only
Both traditional use and modern clinical trials have demonstrated the remarkable healing properties and safety of Comfrey when used externally/topically.
We stress that our Comfrey-rich Muscle Balm is for external use only, and must not be taken internally.
Do not use on deep, open wounds and lacerations
Due to the rapid skin healing capabilities of Comfrey, there is the potential to trap infection in deeper layers, therefore it is not recommended to use Comfrey Muscle Balm on deep wounds and lacerations.
Our Comfrey Muscle Balm contains a range of natural ingredients (see Description for full list), plus essential oils diluted following recommended safety guidelines, and should be safe and gentle to use directly on the skin. However, if skin irritation occurs, discontinue use and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
It is recommended to seek medical advice before using essential oils if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have serious health issues.
