Our story

Wild Oils Tasmania is a family business of husband and wife team, Dave and Zoe, and daughter Ellie, and we have lived on our beautiful rural property in SE Tasmania for over 25 years. The first thing we did when we moved to our land, was to regenerate the property with local tree species (now registered as Land for Wildlife), and establish food gardens. We then began building our own off-grid home. The local landscape of our region is stunning and wild, and is home to remarkable endemic flora, sea cliffs, gorgeous beaches and iconic wildlife.

Our love affair with plants has provided a constant source of joy, through growing native and edible gardens, collecting seed, propagating and harvesting plants most of our adult lives. We have long been actively involved in delivering community education programs relating to native and food garden plants, including: public talks, seminars, workshops, school garden programs, writing in a local newspaper column, as well as local landcare and coastcare programs. Australian Native Plants occupy a special place in our hearts, and over the past 24 years, it has been a joy to grow a huge range of Tasmanian and Australian native plants as part of our previous business, Frog Hollow Nursery (see video below).

Living so intimately with plants over such a long period of time has enabled us to further appreciate the unique characteristics of each species, and we have long marvelled at their beauty, form and scents, both in our own gardens and the natural landscapes we love to spend time in.

We have personally used and enjoyed essential oils in our lives for over 30 years, and are now really excited to grow, distill, and raise awareness of, a special range of rare and endemic Tasmanian native plants which we have chosen from wild environments throughout Tasmania. Rather than follow the practice of wild harvesting, we believe it is important to leave wild environments as they are, and instead are propagating and establishing plantations of these special Tasmanian plants for our own harvesting. These plantations will grow and form the core of Wild Oils Tasmania, and be incorporated into our range of unique products showcasing rare and endemic Tasmanian flora. Truly an essence of the wild!

At Wild Oils Tasmania, we deeply love what we do, and for us, business is not a job, but a way of life and a source of joy, and we instil this into handcrafting the highest quality pure essential oils, custom blends, and therapeutic and luxury balms in honour of the plants that go into creating them. We hope you love our products and enjoy the wild places where you live..
